Anti-NPO Sentiments Giving Way to New Era of Peace?
Despite the continuing distrust many still hold for the ruling government of NationStates' first region, the past few months have witnessed what's starting to look like a global change in attitude towards the New Pacific Order. And this new outlook, so far, has been entirely for the better.
Lately, we've seen many respected regions, such as the Meritocracy and the South Pacific, set aside old disputes and past grudges in favor of embassies and alliances, and the re-opening of communications. Latest in this trend is the Communist Federation of EuroSoviets, an ADN member and founder of Allied States of EuroIslanders, who stirred up some debate within the defender organisation by making an appearance on the NPO forums. In his greeting to the nations of the Pacific, he stated that he was not looking to form an embassy, but taking a look at the way things are run for himself.
Some have accused him of 'cosying up' to the NPO.
When questioned as to his true motives for looking into the Pacific government during an interview, the Communist Federation of EuroSoviets provided a few reasons to validate his controversial move:
1. I have respect for Unlimited, and our nations have good working relationships, though of course we don't shop-talk with regards the ADN or NPO.
2. I am compiling a World Affairs Update for my region, the Allied States of EuroIslanders in order that the ASE diplomatic corp and our Committee for State Security remain appraised of such matters.
3. It is, in my eyes, better to know what goes on for oneself than to read through several paragraphs of pointless anti-NPO rhetoric before certain nations get to the point. I say it is pointless rhetoric because we all know what the general defender consensus is on the NPO.
He also stated that while a few prominent ADN members were skeptical, most trusted him enough to back off and allow him to continue his research into the Pacific regime.
When questioned about his thoughts on the Pacific government so far, EuroSoviets stated “I recognise that the NPO needs reform in terms of a relaxation of their propaganda - the first post that met me here was one of 'don't criticise our leader' - such posts are unhelpful. I am thankful however that the NPO are not a crashing group (with the noted exception of the South Pacific - but apologies have been accepted by LadyRebels for that if I recall correctly). I think that a reconciliation between the NPO and the former inhabitants of The Pacific, along with some curtailment of precisely who can be banned from the region would be beneficial all around.”
“If indeed the negotiations between the NPO and the ADN and her assorted allies go well, and all parties are satisfied, then the Allied States of EuroIslanders and EuroSoviets in particular will be at the forefront of welcoming the reformed NPO into the commonwealth of nations as a respectable organisation that holds no sympathy for attacker groups.”
